  2. My name is chad beck. I am from Springfield, IL, and am currently a senior at SIU. I just changed my major to advertising. My interests are fishing, watching Cardinal games, eating, and pretty much anything outdoors. I really have no idea what I would like to do after college, maybe write for a magazine, or work at a television station, who knows. Perhaps I should figure that out...

  5. Hello everyone my name is Timothy O'Laughlin and I am a transfer student here at SIU. I attended Richland Community College in Decatur, Illinois and graduated with my Associate in Art. I specialized in manual photography and have a darkroom back home. I am a cinematography major and I am also getting my minor in photojournalism. This is my first time in Carbondale so I am still getting lost frequently. I am in this class because I got a 22 in the English section on my high school ACT and I needed a 23 to get into the basic journalism writing course. However, I am glad to be in this class since I've been out of school for about eight months and have not been doing an extensive amount of writing! That's about it for now so good luck everyone.

  7. My name is Jason Byhring and as of now, I am an undecided major. I am torn between Computer Technologies and Journalism. I am taking this class as a prerequisite for later journalism classes and am interested in what I will be learning in this course. As for my main interests, I enjoy music, fishing, and the outdoors (exploring, hiking, rock climbing). I play the drums and pretty much any stringed instrument. All in all, I hope to get a lot out of this class and acquire the necessary tools I need to continue in the field of journalism.

  20. Greetings, with a late entry. My name is Dan Bleyer. Dan is short for nothing. I am a senior at SIU, but, being the miracle man that I am, I will not graduate for another two years. I grew up on a farm east of Mt. Vernon and will forever miss that lifestyle. If a girl talks me into it, I may find success; otherwise I plan to be poor and wander the Serengeti.

  21. My name is Mallory Duran, and I am currently a sophomore at Southern Illinois. I am originally from Colorado, and I miss the beautiful mountains daily. However, the cornfields and sunsets in the mid-west are growing on me. Softball was and is the draw to Southern Illinois for myself; I play center-field for the University and absolutely love being a part of the team. However, they do not let you simply play a sport and not attend class, so I do plan on graduating with a English Education major. My wish is to teach high school.
